2018 Golf Shows off Fresh Features, Upgraded Safety Tech

2018 Golf lineup

The hottest hatch on the market is about to get even hotter, adding a plethora of upgrades that are sure to sizzle. Volkswagen debuted the upcoming 2018 Golf at the 2017 North American Auto Show last month, giving us a preview of what’s to come for the best-selling compact car.

The 2018 lineup will consist of five distinct models: Golf, Golf Alltrack, Golf GTI, Golf R and Golf SportWagen. All five arrive at our Orlando Volkswagen dealership with a minor facelift, which includes new bumpers, updated wheel designs and a shiny chrome grille. Exterior color choices have also been tweaked, offering buyers a fresh palette to choose from. On top of that, all models receive automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, and brand-new LED daytime running lights and taillights, with full LED headlights available for those who want the full treatment.

On the tech side, a crystal-clear 6.5-inch touchscreen replaces last year’s 5-inch display, while (SE and SEL) feature an upgraded 8-inch infotainment system. Existing driver-assist technologies, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with new pedestrian detection and blind spot detection, are now available starting on the SE trim. Other new available systems include automatic high beams, lane departure warning, dynamic cruise control, park assist and ParkPilot.

Individual models also get their own exclusive range of updates, including stop-start functionality (Golf GTI) and the highly anticipated Volkswagen Digital Cockpit (Golf R). The Digital Cockpit swaps the traditional instrument cluster for a LCD screen that displays a digital tach and speedometer as well as customizable performance information, including a lap timer.

Additional information on the 2018 Golf will become available closer to the release date, so stay tuned to our blog for the latest Volkswagen news!
